Guest guest
Many a time, Swami has disclosed in the discourses, that we are not the doers. There is a subtle meaning in this. Though through the instrumentality of different bodies, God does every thing, but we assume doership. Hence, in the Purusha Suktham, it is said, "Sahasra Seersha Purshaha, Sahasraksha Sahasrabad". Roughly translated, the Supreme Purusha(God) has myriads of heads, eyes and hands and every thing is got done through the instruments which are themselves inert but energised by the Divine Atma within. In order to travel in spiritual path and ascend the stages, first we need to destroy the ego, that 'we are the doers'. The sense of 'doership' has to be removed from our conscious(mind) In Saisathcharita, there is an episode in which a devotee was given a cocanut by a saint to be handed over to Baba. In the course of journey to Shirdi, they partook parched rice mixed with chillies etc. Since the dish was much hot for taste, they broke open the coconut meant for Baba and mixed with the dish. Only subsequently, the devotee came to know that the coconut was meant for Baba. As soon as they reached Shirdi and went to the Masjid, Baba asked the thing handed over to the devotee. The devotee pleaded pardon from Baba, unable to give it, since it was consumed enroute. Then Baba told him, that it is due to His Will, the coconut was handed over to the devotee and it was consumed also due to the Will of God. "HENCE DO NOT ASSUME DOERSHIP, IF YOU PRACTICE THIS, YOUR SPIRITUAL PROGRESS WILL BE RAPID". We too should take in the advise of Sai and eschew the sense of 'doership' in any activities. Sairam.
