Guest guest
For any events to take place, three things are essential, Time, space and causation are the three things. Ramayana contains the theme and every thing blends in time very beautifuly. Many causes go into the anhilation of Ravana. It is not a single cause. 1. Ravana failed to move the Shiva Dhanus whereas Rama effortlessly handled it and broke into two. In turn he could get the hands of Sita. 2. Surpanaka, the sister of Ravana was mutilated and her nose and ears were cut by Laxmana as a mark of punishment. She wanted to take either Rama or Laxmana as her man. She thought "Sita" stood in between. Hence, she falsely made a scene in Ravana's court. She thought that if "Sita" is kidnapped by Ravana, it will be the death blow to Rama. Hence, she induced Ravana, by narrating the beauty of Sita. Already Ravana was terribly angry at Rama for able to get the hand of Sita. Hence it was a great chance for him. 3. Ravana has already invited a curse by which, he can not force any woman to submit. Once if he touches any chaste woman, he will be destroyed by the curse. Hence he kept Sita in Ashoka Vana and engaged the ogress to change the mind of Sita. 4. Though he was well versed in the four Vedas and six sasthras, he disobeyed the injunctions of Dharma Sasthra that none should covet other's wife. All these events culminated in the slaying of Ravana by Rama. There is one more episode. It is said that in the previous incarnations, Ravana and Kumbakarna were once the "Dwarapalakas of Bagawan Vishnu. For some serious mistakes, they were cursed to take birth in earth. But they were given one choice. They will hate the lord for 3 janmas and they will be slain by the Lord and they can gain back their original status. Otherwise they will live for many incarnations as very good people and only after a long time, they will be admitted back as Dwarapalakas of the Lord. They preferred the first choice. They were born as Ravana Kumbakarnas during Rama's time. As Kamsa and Sisupala during Shri Krishna's time. They took one more birth as asuras to be slain by the Lord and finally gained back their place in Vaikunta. Hence none is bad really. It is all Time, place and causation. Sairam.
