Can we contain the entire "Ramayana' within a few words? No. Even if we attempt to do so, it will be futile. Every episode of Ramayana contains a great lesson. Even trivial happenings contains deep lessons. Rama taught through his own life, "how a king should administer the kingdom, how a son should behave with his parents, how a husband should treat his wife and how brothers should behave amongst themselves. If we are confused at any stage of life, we can safely refer to such great epics. All human situations are portrayed in Ramayana. What is the right of a house holder and what is the right of a king. These things are clearly delinated in Ramayana. It is not just a story. It is the way of life lived in flesh and blood by Rama and his brothers, Sita and her in laws. The dilemma faced by King Dasaratha? How the events turned into a tragic climax? How Rama maintained his poise. How the queens felt at the sudden turn of events. The entire Ramayana is a saga of sacrifice, a saga of understanding and a saga of righteousness followed by Rama. "Manushomi Aham" is the principle adopted by Rama. He never exhibited any extra ordinary feats baring on few occasions. He has hidden His Divinity completely. He shed tears at the separation of Sita. He waited for the seasons to change, before embarking on the search for Sita. His glory is sung even now throughout the globe. Many yugas have passed. The earth itself has changed its orientation. Still the name of Rama is chanted by many in the world. Sairam.
