Guest guest
Many of us are aware that the name "Rama" prevailed even before the birth of Rama, and the name given by Vashista is really a significant one. Many are under the idea that the name Rama gained credence subsequent to Rama's birth. The syllable "Ra" is taken from Ashtakshara "Om Namo Narayanaya and the syllable "Ma" has been taken from "Panchakshara "Om Namasivaya. Hence it combines the effect of the powerful sabda or sound. It is Taraka nama which will deliver us from this miserable samsar. By repeating the name with one pointed attention, the decoit Ratnakara turned into Maharishi Valmiki, who wrote the wonderful episode of Ramayana. If a murderer and thief could ascend to such high status, why can't we redeem ourselves from this miserable existence by remembering the sweet name Rama ever? Sairam.
