Guest guest
If we examine all that we think, speak and act during waking hours, we will come to the conclusion, that all the above efforts are in vain. If we sincerely examine our thoughts, it will reveal that our thoughts are mostly 'selfish' in nature. We desire for money, properties power and veneration by others. We want all to recognise us, our talents and to praise us. Many desire that their photo should come in the newspapers. They should be shown in TV shows. There is one word in Tamil, to depict our condition. It is "Keerthi dagam" i.e, desire for praise and fame. Apart from politicians and actors, all people desire for praise. The desire for recognition spells disaster. See the obscure sanyasis who perform rigourous penance in deep jungles or caves. Do they crave the recognition from the world? No. They want to remain obscure from the views of the public and hence they perform austerities unseen by others.Desires arises due to body consciousness. If you are oblivious of the body and mind, no desire will spring forth. Sairam.
