Guest guest
We do not contemplate on Truth. We always rely our judgement on ephemeral and evanescent things. We all know that the physical body is perishable. It is called "Deham" because it gets burnt (Dahi) in fire. We have heard about people who live upto 120 years or so in some countries and that remains as a record. But majority of the population do not live beyond 80 to 90 years. When our life is limited in this world, why should we hanker after properties and attachment. Swami says "properties are not proper ties". Hence He started the "ceiling on desires' programme. Enough is the landed properties, cars and jeeps, servants and livestock. Whether our bank balance will give peace of mind? No. Money is ofcourse necessary for this mundane life. But Swami says, that when we purchase 'footwear', we select the exact size of the footwear according to the size of our foot. If you purchase a shorter size, the footwear will hurt your feet. If it is a size higher, you wont be able to walk since it will slip from your feet. Likewise we need just enough money to meet our essential needs. We should neither have less nor more. Hence we must practice ceiling on desires in our life. Sairam.
