Children are very innocent. If only they were allowed to grow without the evil influence of people around them, they will defenitely become good citizens as well as honest individuals. The influence of parents have a great bearing on the child. If the parents do not maintain harmony in the house, the child would grow to become a quarrelsom person. On the otherhand, if the parents train it in a loving atmosphere, the child would become a confident and upright character. We inculcate virtues or vices in the minds of children. We freighten them unnecessarily and the child will fear for everything in its life. Hence, Swami has started "Bala Vikas" programmes to train the infant mind towards good character and conduct, to become obedient to elders and teachers and to respect the motherland and the cultures of the land. It will develop comradship and co-operation with other children. They will learn about the great culture of the land and learn to respect saints and sages. They will try to follow the footsteps of great people. It is more than 30 years since "Bala Vikas programmes" were started and many of the younger generation to day are trainees in Bala Vikas programme earlier. Swami has confirmed, that observing the children who attends "Bala vikas programmes, regularly, the parents will themselves mend their ways and adopt righteous ways of living. Many such instances have taken place. Swami's children(bala vikas children) and students of Sai Institutes would become the torch bearers of Sai philosophy and service activities would gain momentum wherever they happen to live. Sairam.
