Guest guest
Shiva is "asudhoshi" who is satisfied with humble and insignificant offerings of leaves, flowers, fruits and water. He sees the "bhava" behind the offerings which are the feelings associated with such offerings. Exhibitionism and pompous show of 'bakthi' is never acknowledged. We might have heard even the story of a humble devotee "Kannappa", who plucked his eyes in order to arrest the driplets of blood from the eyes of "Shiva linga"(an idol identified with Shiva and offerings made to the idol). He was an hunter and do not know anything about 'pujas and rituals in the worldly sense". He considered the "Shiva Linga" not as a stone idol but as actual Shiva. He offered the meat he hunted to Shiva. He brought water in his mouth and offered to Shiva which was gladly accepted by the Lord in the form of Linga. When he found that one of the eye started dripping blood, he plucked one of his eye and placed it on the place of the eye that was affected. When the other eye too was dripping blood, he put one of his feet in the place of the eye for location and plucked his other eye to place it where he placed his feet for correct location. The Lord manifested in front of the hunter and granted him true vision and he was also called "Kannappar" in memory of his sacrifice of eyes to the Lord. Such was the devotion of innocent people. The educated intellectuals nowadays question the very existence of God. Such a sorry state, they have descended due to the worldly knowledge alone. Hence Swami imparts spiritual knowledge along with secular education in His Institutions. Sairam.
