Decision making is vital in the mundane world. But many weakminded are tossed hither and thither, hardly they come to any definite decision. Of course it is very sad to remain fickle minded. But Swami says, "Remain inconclusive". Some times it is akin to "Trisangu swarga". He was neither here nor there. Such people who could not come into definite decision are often caricatured as though in "Trisangu swargam". Hence, it is not a new thing. From ancient days decision making has been a tough affair. Many call it as "Dharma sankat", a peculiar situation in which we could not move on either way. Ofcourse the reason for this can be traced only to previous deeds which enabled us to take birth in a particular situation in a particular household. One classic example is that of King Dasaratha, who married a third queen since both his first and second queens could not bear any issues to the King. Hence to avert such situation, he happened to request King of Kekaya to offer his beautiful daughter in wedding to him. Of course he explained truely that he had no issues from both the wives he married earlier. But King Kekaya extracted a promise from him that the son born to "Kaikeyi" should ascend the Singasan as the yuva raj. The Maharaj Dasaratha could not anticipate any wrong in the request. Hence, he gladly accepted the condition. The promise was heard by Mandara, the maiden who accompanied Kaikeyi to Ayodhya after the wedding. Secondly when King Dasaratha was engaged in a fierce battle and when the axis of the chariot become loose, it was "Kaikeyi who inserted her own hand instead of the axis in the wheel joint. Her hand was badly cruised. King Dasaratha fought the battle and succeeded. But finding that his dear queen's hand is bleeding, he enquired how it happened. She narrated, that in order to save the chariot from toppling, she inserted her own hand in the wheel joint to save the king from defeat in the battle. Dasaratha praised her valour and at once granted two boons. Kaikeyi said she would take the boon when she requires it. Hence, it was the trap for Dasaratha's downfall. When the maiden Mandara brainwashed Kaikeyi to ask the boons when the coronation of Shri Rama was fixed, it spelled the doom for King Dasaratha. Though it was said, "Think before you leap", our previous deeds will drive us to decide in a moment and reap the results later. Decision making is not a proragative granted to all human. Only those who are fortunate, who have done good and holy deeds could come to correct decisions. Others have to oscillate like a Pendulum of ancient wall clock. Only if we relinquish all desires we can remain still. Sairam.
