In the Sathwa guna there are two kinds. One is Suddha Sathwa and the other is ordinary Sathwa. What is the difference? All individuals who lead a mundane life exhibits "Sathwa guna" at times. This is denoted by love, compassion, peace and non-violence. But this is only a passing phase and they do not adhere to this for ever. When the circumstances changes and when they consume hot, spicy foods, naturally their mood changes. In addition when they are in some negative environment and when they interact with people of "Rajasic nature", they too retaliate and exhibit anger and passion. The fundamental flaw is 'ego and body consciousness'. Even the Sathwa guna they exhibit has its root on the ego. When a Gnani or Saint or God realised individual interacts with people, they do not behave like ordinary individuals. They excude pure love and compassion to all those who come in their presence. Even sinners are treated alike. They do not discriminate based on our traits. They neglect the 'bad traits' in us and are concerned with improving the good traits. Suddha satwa is the only behaviour they exhibit. Swami in his discourses has said, "All the gunas or traits are chains. Sathwa guna is "golden chain'. Rajo guna is silver chain. Thamo guna is "iron chain. All the chains bind the individual to the world. The Gnani or saint is absolutely "Free" in this respect. Sairam.
