Guest guest
Mind comprises thoughts. All thoughts emanate linked to the first 'i' thought. Hence, the first thought that arises in the mind is 'i' thought which relates to body consciousness. Swami has said, that 'mind is nothing but the warp and woof of thoughts like a cloth which is woven out of threads. If all the threads in a hand kerchif is removed one by one, the kerchif as a separate entity won't remain. Likewise if all the thoughts that comprise the mind is quelled, there won't be any mind. This is the pure state of the "Self or Atma. But, we can not control the mind with force. If you feel yourself as a mere witness to the arising of thoughts, then the thoughts will not haunt you. You are simply observing the thoughts without forming any opinion or judgements about it. Many are thinking that it is an impossible task to observe the mind as a witness. But it is quite possible if we start practicing it. The only requisite is 1) Subdue the ego and selfishness. Then, you will find that you can observe the mind or thought process without getting involved in it. Think that you are watching a show but do not show any interest in the show. In a month or so, you will observe that the thought process slows down on its own. Only if you pursue the thoughts, it will haunt you as a ghost. Sairam.
