Shri Krishna, in the Bagawat Gita, told Arjuna, "Ananyas Chinthayantomam Ye Jana Paryupasate, Tesham nityabi yuktanam yogakshemam vahamyaham" which roughly means, "Keep your mind steady on Me alone, i will look after your welfare, Here and Hereafter". This requires steady pursuit. "Ekagraha chintha'. It should be like oil pouring from one vessel to another vessel, a constant stream. But, human mind by nature is visicious and vascillating. How to keep it focussed on God alone? Namasmarana is one such practice which can keep the mind engaged. Swami says, along with Nama, visualise the form in the mind. Namasmarana and Rupadhyana are the ways to fix the mind on god. Practice makes perfect. Even if the mind leaves the focus, bring it back again and again to His form and Name. This is a sure way to attain our aim. Sairam.
