Guest guest
Every now and then, we go through 'mood changes'. Several factors contribute to the changes. As per Swami, "Food" and "environment" contribute to the variations in our thought process. If you are a consumer of meat and meat products, alchohal and other intoxicants, hot curries, fried food, you will be always passionate as well as disturbed, which is "Rajasic" in nature. If you consume forebidden food and cooked earlier(6 to 12 hrs earlier), onion, garlic etc, they generate dull qualities. You will become inert and sleepy. This is "Thamasic" quality. If you consume vegetables, fruits, a little milk and buttermilk, your mind will remain 'calm and focussed'. This is the best food recommended for spiritual aspirants. Roti, chappathi without ghee or oil, grains soaked in water, and seeds also constitute "Satwic food". Whatever you eat, eat in small quantities, do not over eat. Swami says that a little food is more than enough to sustain most of us, who lead a sedantary pattern of life. Sairam.
