Guest guest
The first thought in the mind of man is "i" thought. If we start exploring the origin of "i" thought, we may reach the conclusion that the origin of breath and origin of 'i' thought is from the same place. This is the teaching of Ramana Maharishi. But we are novice to the 'enquiry' stage. Shri Ramana internalised his vision on the Self, and remained one with the Self for the rest of his life. A fearful and disturbing thought of 'death' came to him one day when he was lying in the upstairs of a relative's house. But, the reactions of Ramana was entirely different. He actually staged the death in his body. He laid himself stiff, closing his eyes etc and stopped his breath. He started thinking, that now people will carry his 'corpse' to the buriel ground and cremate it. He then thought, whether i will survive the death? whether i am the inert body etc., Immediately a great force internalised his consciousness in the "Self" and from then on he was not the 'Venkatraman, the student studying in high school and related to his mother and brother. Soon, he embarked in quest of his "father" who he visualised as none else than "Lord Arunachala of world famous Thiruvannamalai Hills. He was completely oblivious of his body or its needs once he reached the sanctum sanctorum. He remained thus fully absorbed in his own self and conscious of nothing outside himself. Thus the great Maharishi Ramana sanctified the place and lived for many years guiding many a seeker towards the spiritual voyage. He practiced "Advaita" actually in his own life. He merged in the supreme at his ashram giving dharsans to the multitudes who thronged there realising his weak health. Exactly at the time Shri Ramana cast his body, Swami was talking with some devotees at Prasanthinilayam. Swami too went into a trance and his body seems to lavitate for some time. His sole opened and enormous quantity of "Vibuthi" errupted from the feet. After coming to senses, he told the devotees around that Ramana merged in Him. He asked the devotees to distribute the "Vibuthi" as prasadam. Sairam.
