Guest guest
There are many ways to defend anger…only one way to uproot it. Expose the fear within and tame it with knowledge of the Self. The moment you do that your smile will return!Yes! Sometimes people will infuriate you. But think about it. Who really is suffering the anger?Anger seems so real when you experience it. Yet when anger passes on you reflect on the state of your mind and often smile to yourself. If the past that keeps on making you angry then realize that you have stubbornly held on to time…while time still moves on.Once a father was infuriated at his son’s mocking behavior. Later as he calmed down he appreciated his son and apologized to him. His son asked him “Father, which one are you…the one that was angry…or the one that repents right now?” “Neither” said the father.“When anger came my intellect left and when anger left my intellect returned. I was the witness to both my anger and my repentance. My fear of you and your fear of me makes this illusion that comes and goes real. Love alone is the eternal witness in all at all times. Hang on to that love and you will wipe off your every face.”Do not take an angry man seriously. Allow him to say his bit. Let it pass you unaffected. Then after he has calmed down never ever remind him of how he failed himself. He knows…and one day he will turn toward your strength. Two people stood fighting on the road. “I was right yesterday” said one of them. “I am right now” lashed the other. And so this went on. A crowd seemed to gather and they too began to split on the decision. One sided with one…the other group with the other. Seeing the chaos a wise man who was passing came to ask what was going on. On hearing the dilemma he approached the two friends that were now almost drawn to blows. “What is the problem” he asked patiently. “I am right” shouted one. “I am right” screamed the other. “Let me tell you the story” said one… “No! No! Let me!” screamed the other. The wise man smiled as he said, “I do not need to hear the story…I know who is right”. “You do?” they asked amazed. “Yes!” he said. “None of you are right. For the right proclaims itself calmly at the right time. The right is always in the silence of peace. It never finds the desperate need to assert itself. In both of you there is part right and part wrong. You are arguing to see who is less wrong and more wrong. But a wrong is a wrong…less or more! The right, my child has such great understanding to the wrong that it does not correct it…the wrong itself upon receiving the understanding surrenders to the right.” Both the friends fell at the feet of the wise. “You are right” they both murmured, “and your understanding O wise one brought us to your feet.”Part of the book: 'Inspiring Thoughts'By Seema M.
