Rural villages are adopted by Samithis to usher an era of self reliance.

As part of the birthday celeberations of Swami, several programmes are on, throughout the globe, each in their own style. The continuous chanting of Sayi Gayathri, Sahasranama converted to Laksharchana by simultaneous congregational Archana by 100s of devotees, Narayana Seva, Global Akanda Bhajan are some such events. Along with this Grama Seva is undertaken in several villages every week continuously throughout the year. Swami, ascribe utmost importance to the rural scenario. Most of the villages lack the basic health and hygine. Educational backwardness is a regular feauture in most of the villages. Hence to make them literate to a minimum level so that they can understand their rights and approach the government for such welfare measures which are provisioned and budgeted. First, the villagers must be able to voice their grievances to the local administration. To enable this, they must possess some basic knowledge about their rights. But, not all villagers succeed in getting the required infrastructure fecilities in the villages like drinking water fecilities, rural link roads, basic health posts etc. Here, the Sai Samithis fill the gap. They find out the backwardness of each village and adopt those which are very backward and lack all basic amenities. The Seva Dal along with Mahilas visit the villages every week, prepare the ground for service. They may start with Rural Bala Vikas. Here Swami is introduced to the villagers,and children are gathered for few hours and taught simple Bhajans, basic morals etc., Youth who can lead the villagers are trained in basic hygine etc. With the available resources, basic health care, educational activities are undertaken. Since the villages are adopted by few samithis, members of samithis visit every village thus adopted and initiate such programmes which will benefit them in the long run. In course of time, the villagers themselves could initiate such actions which are necessary for the welfare of the entire village, be it in agricultural, animal husbandry or cottage industries etc. The idea is to create 'self help groups' who, when trained and guided properly can contribute to the economic self reliance of each family of the village.
