Around him are women devotees who thronged the early hours on Sunday the September 23, 2007 to have darshan of the installation of the Shiva Linga inside the sanctum and sanctorum of the temple. The Shiva Linga is named as Sai Sundareswarar. From where the Linga was brought? In Janauary last Swamy in Chennai conducted a mass yagna for a week's time in Thiruvanmiyur. Before the Yagna was started a Shiva Linga was placed in the Yaga premises. The Lingam was taken

here to Sundaram from Thiruvanmiyur and a temple was constructed. Earlier, in that place Our Swamy used to give His divine discourse to the general public whenever he visited Chennai. The place where the temple was built upon was known as Shanthi Vedika. Now Shanthi Vedika was converted as a temple of Sai Sundareswarar With hundreds of pundits chanting vedas and putting oblations into fire with ghee and other offerings that are essentials to conduct rituals at the Bhaghavan Abode in Chennai Sundaram, for the Linga Prathishta namely Sai Sundareswarar was installed after performing Kumbhabhishekam on Sunday (23.9.07). Devotees from various parts of the city and other area in Tamil Nadu thronged the Sundaram in the early morning to witness the

Kumbhabhishekam. The main Idol Sai Sundareswarar was taken from the venue of Thiruvanmiyur area where the Adhi Rudhra Maha Yagna took place with the Blessings of Bhaghavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in January this year. It was scheduled to organise the Kumbhabhishekam between 5 AM and 7 AM at the venue. The timings to complete the Chanting of vedas besides organising Homam for the Kumbhabhishekam ended exactly around 7 AM. More than thousands of devotees who attended the function were expecting that there might be Divine Presence physically for the Kumbhabhishekam. All the Vedic Pundits carried the holy water in pots from the Yagasala to the top of the Sai Sundareswarar Temple, situated within the precinct of the Sundaram building. songs on Lord Shiva, the purohit poured the holy water on the temple kalasam. After the purification ceremony was over, the devotees sang Karpoora Arathi song. With this the Mahakumbhabhishekam ended on a happy note. Railway Minister Velu and former Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission Chairman and Major General S.P.Mahadevan, Actress Anjali Devi and Playback singer P.Susheela and other VIPs were present in the function. Then the devotees who were seating on the open ground were permitted to have darshan of Sai Sundareswarar by forming serpentine queues.
