Many years ago, Ra.Ganapathi wrote a beautiful book about Swami. In that he has narrated a fine episode. It seems Shri Ganapathi was enjoying the Bhajans conducted in Mandir hall of Prasanthi Nilayam. The beautiful song, "Bhava sagaru se par uthavo"(Rescue us from the miserable ocean of earthly life). While the song was sung, Ganapathi was visualising a scene. There was an island rich in treasures. But there was a danger of the island being engulfed by floods. Swami in the garb of a boatman was ready to ferry the people of the island to the mainland to safety. Hence the boat was gliding towards the island, It seems the people there were willing to get inside the boat of Swami. But each one was carrying a load of treasure from the island. Swami silently bade them to unload the treasures and get inside the boat without any luggages. The boat can ferry only the people and not the treasures. But the people were reluctant to unload them though they want to save their life. Swami silently look at them without any expression but he is pained by their attachment to the tinsels treasures. He waits with his boat longingly but no one seem to get inside leaving their treasures. At that time without rowing the boat takes a 'u' turn and silently drifts away from the island. At that point the author Ganapathi become conscious of the concluding lines of the Bhajan. A fine and profound narration was penned by him. I feel that the narration pertains to all of us and our predicament. Sairam.
