Guest guest
If only we know the technique of subduing and quelling the mind, we may march ahead in spiritual path. If you are enslaved by the mind and still pursue spirituality, your efforts will be waste like pouring water in sandy stretch. Nothing will be retained. Hence the efforts should be to silence the mind. If you apply external pressure it won't heed. In fact you should do nothing to control the mind. Let the mind wander. But you just observe or watch it with disinterest. Yes, a baby running away from a mother, when pursued by her, stops the moment, the mother retraces her steps away from the baby. It is freightened. Mother is not following her any more. It wails for the mother and runs behind her. Hence if you ignore the pranks of the mind and be indifferent to its pulls and pushes, it will become obedient to the intellect. On the other hand if you start attending every desires that arise in the mind, you are doomed for ever. This is the psychology of the mind. Swami says that sadhana is 60% discrimination and contemplation. Discriminate between what is real and what is unreal. Then follow the real. This is sadhana. Hence let us be indifferent to the mind and thoughts. Sairam.
