Guest guest
We read so much of trash nowadays. See the condition of newspaper yourself. 90% of the news contains negative happenings in the world. Strife, hatred, cheating, civil war, natural calamities, these occupy the majority area of newspaper. Rest is reserved for celebrity stars or cricket. The remaining area contain business and advertisements. Hardly 1% area covers some news which gives solace to the soul. Some religious activities, some charity, some philosophy. People vie with one another in reading the so called "sensational news". Headlines depict crimes and politics as well as crimes in politics. The lay man is left in the lurch. These so called "yemon" service is rendered by the media, TV, internet etc. Then how we can expect any improvement in the society? Hence Swami also in one of his discourses to the boys and girls has directed them "Not to read trash novels or cartoon books". Instead they should read ennobling stories of Ithihasas and Puranas and the life history of saints and sadhus. They should try to follow the directions of such saintly people in their life. Even in internet, we have access to Shri Ramana, Ramatirtha, Ramakrishna Vivekananda, Aurobindo, Yogananda, Shirdi Sai, and other saints. Hence instead of surfing in vain, we must search out for cultural, philosophical works of our land. Sairam.
