We have heard about certain preceptors, who do not impart what all he knows to the disciples. They hold back some vital clues. With the death of the preceptor, the knowledge too vanishes and the disciples are not fortunate enough to know fully about a chosen subject. Half knowledge is always dangerous. For instance i know to connect one end of the plug to the source and i am ignorant regarding the destination point where it should end. The result will be fatal to all those who come in contact with the live wire. Likewise in spirituality also half knowledge is very dangerous. Especially those who practice "Pranayama" or "Hatayoga", if they are not properly guided by a preceptor may end up as an "Asthmatic patient" or some other serious breathing disorder. Better to avoid such practices until we are very clear about the way it should be done from a practicing preceptor. Hence it would be advisable to utter "nama japa' instead of such excercises. Even Shirdi Baba used to discourage such yogic practices by the devotees. Sairam.
