Guest guest
As the iron safe is meant for securing your valuables from theft, so also this body is meant for the Self to express itself by way of Love, Truth, Peace, Non violence and Righteousness. Hence our bodies are just vehicles for the Atma which resides therin illuminating our intellect. Fogged by the worldly pleasures, man uses the the outer vesture for gratification of his senses. Hence Swami repeats often "Bend the Body", End the Mind". He doesn't command us to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of the senses. He asks all Sadhakas to utilise the body towards the noble cause of serving the unfortunate and illeterate brothers who cry for the basic needs like food and clothing. It is really a sin to become greedy when others lack even a meal a day. They do not have an extra cloth to cover them, in case the one they wear get wet or soiled. We unashamedly purchase costly pairs of dresses when we already have several dresses which are lying unutilised in Almirahs and suit cases. Hence Mahatma Gandhi relinquished the dresses he used to wear above the waist and satisfied with one cloth to resemble and to live like multitudes of unfortunate brothers of his country. He ate frugal food which are easily available and consumed by many in the rural Indian villages. His adherance to Truth was obstinate and he refused to get worked up by the tortures Britishers inflicted on Indian people. Hence he developed passive resistance to the mighty British which won India freedom from British occupation. However Swami says 'Swarajya is not the freedom from foreign rule". Real Swarajya is when one is able to contain the senses and mind and bent upon serving the fellow beings selflessly. Sairam.
