Making a suo motu statement in the Assembly, Minister for Public Works Durai Murugan said Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had written to the Satya Sai Trust on Sunday welcoming the Trust's gesture to repair, broaden and undertake the concrete lining of the canal. Replying to the Trust's plea through a letter on April 29, Mr. Karunanidhi had stated that the works related to upgrading the canal alone would be handed over to Larsen and Toubro and the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department would coordinate and supervise the work, he said. The canal upgradation would ensure uninterrupted flow of water into the canal, Mr.Durai Murugan added. 2007, The Hindu.
