Making a suo motu statement in the Assembly, PWD Minister Duraimurugan said Sai Baba had announced during a felicitation function here on January 21, that the canal would be repaired and provided concrete lining. Based on that, the Trust had written to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi seeking approval for the project, which had been entrusted to Larsen & Toubro for execution. The Trust had also requested the assistance of the state Public Works Department to supervise the project, he said. Duraimurugan said that the Chief Minister had acceded to the request and replied that the PWD Chief Engineer would be appointed as coordinator from Tamil Nadu to complete it.
