Guest guest
Dear Sarvamaataji, pachakshari means five syllables - mantra of five syllables - and it is usually used in the case of Shiva, Shiva panchakshari being namassivaya ( na-mas-shi-vaa-ya ), Om is generally added in the beginning to all mantras and hence om namahshivaaya althogh is shadakshari(six syllables) it is called panchakshari only. Similarly, ashtaakshari mantra ( om namo naraayanaaya ) and so on. Regards, Thimmappa. M.S.Thimmappa. The INTERNET now has a personality. YOURS!
