Pranams to everyone,

I should confess that I did not follow this thread from the beginning and

therefore am not aware of the context in which the question arose. However few

discussions in the past few days attracted my attention and I thought I would

put down my thought on the question in general. Please excuse me if it is out of

place.

Goodness is the disposition that an individual possesses to think, speak and act

in a manner that is beneficial to most and appropriate at a given time from the

cosmic point of view.

The level and the depth of goodness depends upon the fitness of the individual

vehicle to possess a certain amount of goodness. Obviously the sum of fruit of

actions or karma plays a very important role. However there could be exceptions

too. Thats why one could come across an individual who is otherwise gross and

uneven in thinking, speech and actions suddenly or over a period of certain time

displays goodness at different levels.

Again goodness does not exist in thin air. So the capacity of particular

groups, societies and nations to absorb and display goodness also counts.

Therefore, at the individual level apparently karma plays a crucial role, it is

the powers that be or gods or God that is the real source of goodness at all

levels.

This is my humble opinion.

Regards,

Rajmohan
