Aumji, Vedant/Yogis have said the source of our Conciousness, Chetna, is the heart. The Upanishads also call the Causal body the Thumb sized person who lives in the heart(this is not the physical heart, or even the heart chakra, but the spiritual heart, the Causal body). Thats why Raman Maharishi & other Vedantins meditate on the source of conciousness in the Heart. From this it would seem God is nearer to the Heart. But if you take the mind not be the lower physical brain, but the Agya/Sahasra Chakras, which are connected to the Universal Mind, then God is nearer the Mind, as per Kundalni Yoga, Gods grace descends from Sahasra downwards. One might even say that the Heart *is* the Mind, as our real mind is intuition based- it knows everything, but may not be able to explain why. This is the intuition of the Vigyana layer in Causal body. Since Intuition comes from heart chakra, one may say the real mind is based in heart, in which case God is close to both, but via the heart chakra. What do you think? love, Shantnu

Aumji, I agree. The narrow definition of mind has come due to physical sciences insistence of confusing mind with brain. The mind, as per Yoga, includes the thinking part, emotions(Hridaya), Buddhi, Intuition, & Instinct(that which warns us when we are near danger etc). The whole Bhakti vs Gyan debate has come by because people created an artificial barrier between mind & emotions, when in truth they are the same thing. People have divided & broken their mind, which is why their mind is weak & why they think they need to get rid of it. A balanced Mind, the refelction of Universal Mind, will contain Wisdom, Love, Intelligence & Intuition. Only this Mind can lead to Moksha. love, Shantnu
