Guest guest
Namaste. While Vaishnava bhaktas are not in favor of obtaining Mukti(s), four types of well known transcendental states of liberation, Sri Adi Shankara states in Shivananda Lahari verse 28, that Lord has already bestowed upon him those four Muktis with out even praying for and liberated His pure bhakta in this life itself making him exist in the world as 'Jivan-mukta'. He skillfully discloses each act of his supreme devotion producing corresponding fruit! Saaroopyam thava poojana shiva maha devethi samkeerthane, Saameepyam shiva bhakthi dhurya janatha sangathya sambhashane, Saalokyam cha characharathmaka thanu dyane bhavani pathe, Sayujyam mama siddha mathra bhavathi swamin kridharthosysmaham. Saroopya Mukthi of my becoming like you is thine worship, Saamipya Mukthi of my coming near you is lovingly singing, About you and calling you " Hey , Shiva " and " Hey Madhava " Saalokya Mukthi of living with you in your abode is sweet conversation, With thine pure devotees, who in their hearts live with you alone, Saayujya Mukthi of forever uniting with you is contemplating, Upon your presence, Oh God, who is the dearest consort of Bhavani, In all moving and stable forms of the entire universe, And so I do get all these four in this birth itself! I am thankful to you, my lord, for all these four kinds of Mukti. Radhe, Radhe! > I came across this quote which prompted me to write my note on Facebook: > > " Whereas Shri Shankaracharya and other absolutists sought to obliterate their personal identity, the supposed cause of suffering, we see that the Ashta Chhap poets offered their individual identities into the fire of devotion.
