Guest guest
Namaste everyone, In the Maha Mrityujaya Mantra, it says " Relese us from bondage, as a cucumber is released from stem " . I fail to understand this analogy- can anyone please enlighten? Thanks Radha
Guest guest
Om nama: Shivaya! The illustration is : Bhagavan, You give us healthy life with many pleasent things which increase the enjoyment of life more and more as if going to be immortal forever. The seeker requests, I do not want immortality. I want peaceful death. How? cucumber fruit is tightly joined with the stem. It takes everything required for its growth. When the growth is complete, it ripes. When fully ripen, it is automatically seperated from the original stem without any hurt leaving no mark as to once it was connected to stem. Here cucumber is symbolic one. Take any fruit like mango, cocomut, papaya, apple. All these when ripen, get released from original plants easily. Even leaves when ripen, automatically detach and fall down. I want such peaceful death. Guest guest
The Maha Mrityujaya Mantra is a very beautiful mantra, one of the few Vedic mantras that are still used in Kaliyug. Most people think it is just for warding off sickness/bad times, but it has a spiritual meaning too. The devotee asks Shiv not for wealth or Moksha , but rather to give him knowledge & power to destroy his Karma. When a fruit is ripe, it automatically falls from tree. In the same way, when we have burnt the seeds of Karma, like the ripe fruit we automatically become free of rebirth. Thats what the devotee asks for- the wisdom to transend Karma, for he knows once he has this wisdom, Moksha is automatic.
