Namaste all. _/\_

I've celebrated Maha Siva Ratri on Feb 16, 2007 at Amritsar (City of

Golden Temple of Sikhs), Punjab, India. We visited a Shiva's Temple to

offer our respects that auspicious night.

This temple is famous for its crystal Shiva Linga which continuously

changes into many spontaneous colors!

We bought fragrant flower garlands at the temple entrance market to

offer to the Lord. As my friend placed hers over the Shivalinga, I did

not want to crowd the alter with more. So I felt like placing my

garland over Lord's Trishula (Trident) that was kept erect beside the

Shiva linga.

But the Trident was already decorated with a hanging flower garland.

I removed that one to offer mine so that the removed garland could be

enjoyed as 'prasad', or grace, as a remnant of humble offering by

devotees.

While removing the garland and adorning the Trident with the fresh

garland I brought, I couldn't help noticing the well placed large

Sanskrit inscriptions on the silver Trident of Lord Shiva:

" Sri Rama " !

I was thrilled to know Lord Rama Himself was standing here

and receiving my offering brought for Lord Shiva!

Of course, we've all heard this famous chanting:

'zrI rAma rAma rAmeti rame rAme manorame,

sahasra nAma tat tulyaM rAma nAma varAnane!'

Lord Shiva tells to His Consort Devi Parvati-

" O Delight of My heart, O My dear beautiful-faced Lady!

I Myself constantly enjoy the Supreme bliss, chanting the Divine Name

of My Beloved, - 'Sri Rama, Rama, Rama!' Which is equal to reciting

one thousand Names of Lord Vishnu, Sriman Narayana!! "

It is also stated by Sri Veda Vyasa:

'yatpAda paGkaja rajaH zrutibhirvimRgyaM

yannAbhi paGkaja bhavaH kamalAsanazca

yannAma sAra rasiko bhagavAn purAris

tam rAmacandram anizaM hRdi bhAvayAmi'

(Adhyatma Ramayana I.5.47)

- I fondly contemplate upon that Lord Ramacandra constantly in my heart,

the dust of Whose lotus-feet is searched for by the Vedas as well as

the lotus-seated lord Brahma, who is born from His very own lotus-navel,

and the essential Treasure of Whose Name is continuously relished by

Lord Shiva, the Connoiseur of Divine Love.

sarvadevanamaskaaraan.h keshavaM pratigachchhati ..

'Mahabharata' has declared:

" Just as every rain drop that falls from the sky naturally flows

into the ocean, in the same way every worship or devotional prayer

offered to Him, by whatever Name you wish, or in whatever Form you

like, or whatever discipline you practice, ultimately leads to the

One, ultimate Infinite, Supreme Reality, Lord Keshava! "

Namaste baba ji.

I'll be delighted to give the address of the Shivaji's temple.

Actually this was my first visit to Amritsar, we were guided to this

temple by my Punjabi friend's 'Maharaj ji', a great Shiva Bhakta and

Shakta, and also an accomplished classical as well as devotional

musician and teacher. I do not even know his full name since every one

respectfully addresses him 'Maharaj ji'.

I'll post the requested information after contacting my friend for the

details. We have taken some pictures there too.

Namaste all.

Thanks for providing the address. My USA based Punjabi friend is still

working on getting the exact address but vaguely she remembers the

temple being located in the Down town of Amritsar.

We've also visited the cremation ground on the premises.

The Shiva bhakta's name is Sri Ashok Maharaj.

I'll upload the pictures when I receive them from my friend.
