Guest guest
For some reason along my journey, I have came upon a wall of resistance that I cannot overcome so that I may meditate and concentrate properly. It is as if my life has grown so active that I can only meditate late at night right before sleep. It is like some force is trying to yield me in ignorance. What should I do? How should I trancend this predicamate? I have read the Upanishads and only find comfort for a short period of time when reflecting upon the words, thus not sufficing. In the mean time, procrastination has begun to sink within my being for reasons unknown. Could it be that I am experiencing the very same words of Chaos echoed by Sri Aurobindo, those, along with others, that I have meditated upon? But our ancient sages were very intelligent ...and they knew forehand this problem. Please read old posts on " Yoga Nidra " Yoga Nidra is very useful in such situations... even if u hv no time for meditation... you can make you sleep a meditation love
Guest guest
All Sadhaks face difficulties & oppositions. I dont know if you've read Secret of the Vedas by Aurobindo. He gives a verse from the Vedas that says that the Sadhak has to face many long, dark nights before he sees the Truth of the Sun. In the verse the Rishis pray for 11 months in the dark before the sun comes out. This has been translated in many ways, including the ourlandish theory that the Aryans came from the North Pole! But Aurobindo takes it to mean that the Rishis struggle on in the darkness, & only after 11 months, which is almost end of the year, or the symbolic end of their life, do they finally see the Sun. But they dont lose hope, as they know there is a Sun............
Guest guest
Ahh yes, Yoga Nidra. I have heard of it but never really practiced it. I read the old posts on it and am starting to prepare myself. Say, just to ask, is it beneficial or is just an accessory, to have music playing in the background, such as some Ravi Shankar and others, while meditating? And on a lighter note, how about this mantram: " Aum Shanti Shanti, Isvara Shanti Shanti. "
Guest guest
it depends on what meditation you are doing-music maybe helpful or not. But there is a meditation in which you just listen to music. There is special meditation music(Chakra Chants by Jonathan Goldman is very good) which you just have to listen to while sitting or lying down. Some meditations, like those of Rajyoga, need to be done in quiet. I find that closing ears with ear plugs works best, as well as darkening the room.
