Both warmed my heart. The first is about

impoverished migrants coming north through

Mexico, and how also-poor villagers offer them

food and other necessities out of goodness,

knowing the hardships they are suffering. The

second has to do with help for storm-ravaged

Lakota reservation.

I have seen the people traveling from Central America in southern

Mexico on several occasions. In Ixtepec, Oaxaca- the great majority of the

community pitches in to help those on the trains. In deed, since it is a

tropical region and there are many fruit trees in the very humble homes of

the Zapotec, the residents put fruit and bread in bags, while others put

used clothing or diapers and newspapers (for toilet paper, shade and

cushioning) in bags. When the train passes by quickly, they throw them

up... otherwise, they drop the bags along the train tracks where they are

always picked up by the travelers.

Keith Olbermann Helps Raise $250,000 for Storm-Ravaged Cheyenne

RiverReservation, " John R. Platt, Tonic. February 15, 2010.

" For 14,000 Native Americans without heat or electricity, one minute of

Keith Olbermann's show was the attention they needed. Less than a minute of

air time. That's all it took for Keith Olbermann to change the fate of

Native Americans suffering one of the worst - and most ignored - natural

disasters to hit the continental United States in years. The Cheyenne River

Sioux Reservation in South Dakota experienced debilitating ice storms and

blizzards beginning on Jan. 22. The storms knocked out 2,500 utility poles

and disrupted electricity and heat for 14,000 people, who were forced to

live in sub-zero temperatures for nearly two weeks. Many homes were damaged,

food spoiled, supplies dwindled to almost nothing, and all pleas for help

seemed to fall on deaf ears. Most of the media ignored this crisis, and

despite calls for aid from the Sioux Nation, only $8,000 in donations had

trickled in to help the reservation as of Feb. 9.Š "

thanks Max

both Keith Olbermann and Big Ed Schultz are good men; they both help to raise

money for the FREE Medical Clinics as well as inform us about things that count.

we need more media people like them and i pray that the mainstream media also

becomes more responsive to humanitarian POV.
