What is truth ?

in another forum,someone asked the following question:

 

.... ~ " i wish i knew though when someone was saying the truth about their

experience and when someone just uses the words that this community uses to

promote themselves for profit. i still feel skeptical of many leaders in this

field. I wonder how many are authentic. "

 

these are good q's and there are many ways to answer them. I'll give a few

guidelines now and more and more will become obvious from your own experiences.

 

1) It's is said that all answers/truths are within you already. Within does not

mean mind; it means heart, pure/spiritual heart. Some say that heart also cannot

be trusted because it can be emotional and even negatively emotional. But, from

my own experience this is a misunderstanding. From my experiential POV, heart is

ever pure and can only create pure love. But what happens is that mind begins to

distort pure love and can even turn it into fear and hate. So, when we

experience emotions, discrimination is needed whether pure love is being

expressed by mind as compassion as in poetry or service to the poor, or as

negative emotions? Negative emotions are definitely created by mind, not heart.

This is from my own very clear experience about 38 years ago, when my awareness

descended from head to heart in a very noticeable unmistakable way.

 

2) So, everything we hear from outside, in order to be practical, we may ignore

a lot of it as not worthwhile. But that which has some resonance with us( good

or bad ), we treat like a scientist would, as a hypothesis to be tested by us.

 

3) And what is the test? Does the teaching take us inward or outward? Does it

move our awareness from head to heart? Does it increase our awareness/alertness

and clarity of mind? Or does it keep us stuck in the mind with its endless

chatter and no hope of peace of mind? Do we feel more peaceful, more silent,

more clear? Do we feel a presence of peace, love, compassion?

 

4) Heart, Love, Truth, Awareness, Silence, Peace are all One. Unless you already

know this to whatever degree, please accept this as a hypothesis, and only if

you want, and then investigate via meditation, contemplation, self-inquiry,

observation, prayer, selfless service, compassion, etc.

 

5) One more clue. Mind is very very powerful and can create heaven or hell for

individual, for family, nation or world. Keep in mind Einstein's exhortation

that " rational mind can be a wonderful servant, but a horrific master. "

Unfortunately, some scientists, who wrote the movie zeitgeist, have not taken

this to heart. Heart is beyond both heaven and hell. Heaven and hell are both

temporary, LOVE is permanent.

 

6) On the other hand, there are physicists, medical doctors and other scientists

who also are Awakening to their " True Nature " which is LOVE, and gaining the

spiritual discrimination of what is permanent and what is temporary.
