Guest guest
Talks Emmanuel Jal: The music of a war child About 3 to 4 mins into the video, his comments about realizing that there are unscrupulous people who created the dissension and war in his country to steal the oil, etc caught my attention because that's what Amma said that there are unscrupulous people who create wars, etc just for profit. WARNING ! sensitive people might want to skip watching this. But, if you want to feel the suffering of the world and cry for God, then good to watch. http://www.ted.com/talks/emmanuel_jal_the_music_of_a_war_child.html Amma Bless, amarnath
Guest guest
Aum Namah Shivaya, Amma says that wars are a product of our minds. That as long as we have anger and greed that societies will continue to go to war.At the Millennium Peace Summit in the United Nations General Assembly in New York in 2002, Amma stated " Simply putting nuclear weapons in a museum in itself will not bring about world peace. The nuclear weapons of the mind must first be eliminated. " In " The Timeless Path " Swami Ramanakrishnanda Puri discusses how we allow carrying " mental violence " around all the time thinking it is somehow " harmless. " If it goes unchecked it will eventually it will manifest on the verbal or physical level. He points out driving. If someone cuts us off, how many of us punch the steering wheel or make a " loving gesture " as he calls it? Verbal violence is shouting out the window certain choice words. He further adds that mental violence is the most subtle. It is any thought of ill will either imagining physical or verbal violence against someone. It is this anger that is carried in society that keeps radiating out that is creating wars from what Amma has said as my understanding. It's also best not to watch violence of any kind. It can cause restlessness during meditations. Once we watch anything of violence it will keep reappearing in our minds even though we may not wish for it. So it's always best to avoid programs with violence. It does not mean to avoid to get involved for justice in the world but we can avoid witnessing the horrors. It's sometimes hard to avoid with everything going on, I'll be the first to admit that. I've been guilty of being a bit (A LOT..LOL) impatient while driving and then feel guilty afterwards for my lack of patience. So now when I drive I have Amma's picture on my dash and play bhajans all the time It has worked to help me practice patience immensely. Reminding myself that She is watching my every move is helpful. I pray She will always be at my side to help my make correct choices in life. at Her feet, Adriane Ammachi , " anatol_zinc " <anatol_zinc wrote: > > Talks Emmanuel Jal: The music of a war child > > About 3 to 4 mins into the video, his comments about realizing that there are unscrupulous people who created the dissension and war in his country to steal the oil, etc caught my attention because that's what Amma said that there are unscrupulous people who create wars, etc just for profit. > > WARNING ! sensitive people might want to skip watching this. > > But, if you want to feel the suffering of the world and cry for God, then good to watch. > > http://www.ted.com/talks/emmanuel_jal_the_music_of_a_war_child.html > > Amma Bless, > amarnath >

I have read these words in " In Amma's Heart " . Now, there was a very realized person with whom I was conversing in Mumbai (a very private one-one talk that lasted a few hours) way back in 1995 and these words popped out of me then " The world is a product of our minds " . His eyes lighted up at my sudden and spontaneous understanding. I just wanted to invite you all to the thought that forget wars, the entire world/universe/existence is a product of OUR minds. When an individual mind becomes completely silent (i.e. vanishes), the external world (and all its concomitant pains, pleasures, pressures, and obligations) vanish for that mind. Amma has not said so in these words wherever I have read, but I can't imagine her saying otherwise. > He further adds that mental violence is the most subtle. Sri Aurobindo talks of 3 kinds of 'negative' violence * Physical violence - we all know this and most only associate as true violence * Mental violence - as Swami described * Soul violence - violence of manipulation and control for the sake of power Also, as Yogananda said (paraphrased), for an entirely different paradigm of the subtlest 'positive' violence Our very existence in this world is based on violence ... from parents' union to a baby's birthing process to competition for resources like air, food, education, jobs, money, property. A successful businessman means some other business' loss. A clean house means a regular killing of countless germs and bacteria etc. Walking, driving on the roads to perform legitimate responsibilities means killing several ants, insects, and sometimes bigger animals like squirrels etc The reality is that some violence (perhaps someone could suggest a better politically-correct word for this) has to exist for the world to function; the key is to maintain a dharmically acceptable level of that. > at Her feet, > Adriane Jai Ma!
