Guest guest
For several months I have seen activity on the north side of Arunachala, right next to the Inner Path. Yesterday it was confirmed by a local that a developer now owns the property and is getting ready to develop houses. I went out this morning to take photos so you can see what we may be losing. I don't know if anything can be done. but maybe this can be stopped. If any action is to be done, it will have to come from Indian nationals. As westerners, people like my wife and I cannot really do much to influence local politicians. It may be too late. If no effort is made to stop this, then this will be the first step to the development of the Inner Path, and we will lose this place of holy solitude forever. Here is the post. http://richardarunachala.wordpress.com/2009/07/20/arunachala-under-attack/ What can be done? Is there an Indian national (ideally in Tiruvannamalai?) that can take leadership? Guest guest
I removed this post after being warned by two different Indian nationals in tow hours of the dangers of angering powerful interests. It was suggested, " Let Arunachala do its work. " I guess this is what I will do. Om Arunachala, Richard Ammachi , " Richard Clarke " <richard wrote: > > For several months I have seen activity on the north side of Arunachala, right next to the Inner Path. Guest guest
What to do? Perhaps, it's a sign that one needs to look for the real Arunachala within? Which of course is not different then the real Ramana and the real Amma, etc. I'm reading a wonderful book " Unforgettable Memories " (with Amma) by Swami Purnamritananda Swami writes how he really got into puja worship( polishing puja items, etc, etc) and even feeling the power of puja; but, Amma came one day and took away all his puja items saying " mental puja " is good enough. Then, swami really got into learning Sanskrit( the grammer, etc, etc); again, Amma came and took away all his Sanskrit books. The swami merely was trying his best to do things that he thought would please Amma. Finally, he decided and told Amma he would go and meditate in a cave; Amma said ok and asked how many days? Swami said 41. It was hard to get started since the cave was on the ashram grounds and he could hear other devotees singing bhajans with Amma, laughing etc. After a couple false starts, he did it however. Amma came on day 41 to tell him. But, swami was used to the cave and was reluctant to leave. After a couple more days Amma came and got him to leave the cave saying he needed to learn to stay in meditation while interacting with and serving the world. Jai Amma, Jai Ramana, Jai Arunachala Within ! this was the specific situation for Swami Purnamritananda on the other hand, there is nothing wrong with puja worship and Amma does have quite a few mostly younger pujaris; and I take advantage of these for health reasons and also a good way to donate to Amma's charities nothing wrong with circumambulating Arunachala, etc, etc keeping in mind the highest priority advaita( non-duality ) the oneness of all just my 2cents Amma Bless !
