Guest guest
Hi I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum for my comment, but I will post it here anyway. Recently, I have heard at least two Enlightened masters mention that there may be some major consequences due to climate change happening within a short period ot time. Buddhist master Summa Ching Hai states that the earth will pass a point of no return in 1411 days if proper changes aren't made. Also, a meeting of 2000 scientists in Copenhagen on Thursday concluded that the earth is following the UN's worst case scenario trajectory and the projected 2 degree change in global temperature might actually end up being more like 5 or 6 degrees. I didn't see this story get too much play in the media. The best solution for combatting this problem is for more people to adopt a vegan or vegetarian diet, as the livestock industry contributes more greenhouse gases than the entire transportation industry, and ofcourse all of the bad karmas associated with killing with animals would be reduced . I am sure that Ammachi is doing a great deal to address this issue but I don't know anything about the efforts being made because I am not closely associated with her as many on this board are . TI was wondering if we could generate a discussion on this group about some ways to inform the general public about the benefits of the vegetarian diet or other solutions for climate change. One thought I had was that maybe Ammachi could bless an email that could be forwarded to people explaining the benefits of the vegetarian and vegan diet. Another idea was that maybe a group of people could get together to buzz up an article on diet and climate change so that users could see it. Again I am really sorry if this is an inappropriate forum for my suggestions or if I have said something inappropriate due to my ignorance . Regards, Anoop <moderator's note> Although we may have occasional postings about vegetarianism or environmental issues, this group is really not a forum for political soapboxes or to advocate a vegetarian/vegan diet. </moderator's note>
