I think, Amma has said that greed is the main cause of all problems in

world. If every banker and business man was unselfish like this

fellow, would we have the economic disaster we have now and all the

other problems rooted in greed?

 

I heard on the news yesterday that some FEMA employees are more

concerned about their own salaries than doing their job

of helping those who have lost so much during Katrina. And

unfortunately, I have been aware of such things for some time now,

because that's exactly what an Ex-friend of mine did,

take advantage of the Katrina situation to help himself,

rather than help the victims.

 

And a warning: do not assume just doing spiritual practices like

mediating many years will automatically make you compassionate,

because my Ex-friend has been meditating for 40 years. This is why

Amma focuses so much on selfless service, compassion and love.

 

I pray to Amma to expose all such greedy actions and to open the

hearts of those lost in such acts; to open their hearts to the love,

light and compassion within them.
