Guest guest
Dear marci ~ I would be very interested to know about this also. I have not heard of Gurabani, but it is interesting to me that the Shanti CD is promoted as Sanskrit Chants. It seems to me, based on what I've heard, that Prem Deval's songs are Sanskrit. And I have to Namo (bow to you) for tuning me into these wonderful sacred songs. I know there are many dialects, just in India alone, such as Amma's Malayalam. Jai Ma ~ Linda marci wrote: I have had questions about this also Linda. . .when i have ordered CD's of Snatam Kaur, and Satkirin Kaur Khalsa, and others and they would be categorized under Gurabani chants, and i wondered if that was a sacred language?. . . but did not know for sure for i thought the spoken language for Sikhs is Punjabi. . . . Some of the Chants are based on poetry and sacred scriptures written in Sanskrit such as Mangala Charan of Jaap Saihib. . . Many of the chants that Snatam Kaur sings on the Shanti CD are promoted as Sanskrit chants. Most everything Snatam Kaur and the American Siks do are sacred scriptures set to music. Maybe Keval can explain what Gurabani is???? . . . .Thanks. . . **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps!
