Sikh prayers and bhajans are in Punjabi. (though of course not all Sikhs are Punjabi speakers, and not all Punjabis are Sikhs) And if you like Punjabi bhajans, rock on with Amma's Mata Rani and Meri Jhopaddi! Guest guest
Namaste. . . I have had questions about this also Linda. . .when i have ordered CD's of Snatam Kaur, and Satkirin Kaur Khalsa, and others and they would be categorized under Gurabani chants, and i wondered if that was a sacred language?. . . but did not know for sure for i thought the spoken language for Sikhs is Punjabi. . . . Some of the Chants are based on poetry and sacred scriptures written in Sanskrit such as Mangala Charan of Jaap Saihib. . . Many of the chants that Snatam Kaur sings on the Shanti CD are promoted as Sanskrit chants. Most everything Snatam Kaur and the American Siks do are sacred scriptures set to music. Maybe Keval can explain what Gurabani is???? . . . .Thanks. . .
