Guest guest
Dear Max ~ this is absolutely incredibly beautiful. I was thinking I would copy and print out the lyrics when I realized you hadn't included them all. Is this tape still available? Has it been converted to CD? If not would it be too much imposition to ask you to complete the translation of the different manifestations of the Goddess? It might be too consuming a task, so I will completely understand if you can't. I will save the digest so you could just put the part that was missing. To me this is a wonderful prayer. Do they still sell tapes at the M. A. Bookstore? Anyone who knows feel free to jump in. Jai Jai Ma ~ Linda Max wrote: ....There's a bhajan Adi Parashakti. However the one i love the most is Vandekyunnen (Vol I in the cassette series!) a very profound and moving oldie, i think one of Amma's, that praises her under a multitude of names. Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, I believe that what they now do at the bookstore - and I will know for sure next week - is that they can custom-burn you a CD with a selection of bhajans from the old tapes. They still have some tapes around, but of course when they're gone, they're gone. The translations would also be available in the Bhajanamritam books. Guest guest
Isn't it great? with the melody exponentially better. They are closing out the cassettes but you might be able to get a copy of Vol I. As far as i know it's not on any other. This song swept me away when i first heard it on a non-official video at M.A. Center hand labeled Bhajans 1989, with Amma singing lead and pouring on the nectar. I later figured out it was Navaratri at Amritapuri. It is one of the best i've ever seen, technical quality notwithstanding, and will bring tears to your eyes and blissful opening to your heart. I will type in the lyrics later on and include the Malayalam, which is beautiful. Max > this is absolutely incredibly beautiful. Guest guest
OK, Linda as you requested, here are more of the words to Vandikyunnen: Vandikyunnen amme ennil nritta maaduvaan Vanda niiya prade vannadi paniiyunen So that Thou shouldst dance within me, O Mother, O adored One, I bow and surrender to Thee. (the refrain) Jivaatmi kayaayi ninnu jivi pikkyu s'aktiye Nii vedinnyu poyaal nischalam akhilavum Existing as the Power of Life within the individual soul, if Thou shouldst leave, all would become still. Parayaam S'akti, vaa vaa pari puurnaanand aatmike Parama jyoti sevaa piriyaat ennil ninnum O Universal Energy, the soul of perfect bliss, come, come. O Supreme Light, remain never abandoning me. Jnaana kadale vaa vaa naanaa s'rishti kaarane Akhilaa dhaara murte alavilaata satte Come, come, O Ocean of Knowledge, Cause of the diverse creation, Embodiment of the Substratum of the Universe, measureless Existence. Anivilu manuve vaa vaa akhila vyaapta vastu ve aayira dala padmattil aavaase nii vaa vaa O Thou atom of atoms, who pervades the universe, Dweller in the thousand-petalled lotus, come, come. Kodi divaakara shobhe en tadiyil vaaru ambike Adiya navide layiikyuvaan ammaa tanne aas'rayam Whose brilliance equals millions of suns, Dweller within myself, that Mother alone is the only hope for getting merged in Her. Amrita jyotir mayame aanandaabdhe ninnil maanasa maniis'am lina maakaan tunayikkanam O ambrosial Light, Ocean of Bliss, may my mind merge in Thee forever Nirmala me nirguna me anudinam namikkyunnu Dina dayaalo ende dina taya kattuka O pure and qualityless Being, I bow to Thee again and again Compassionate to the afflicted, rid me of my distress. Arivin arive satte abhaya pradame S'ive Ariyaa nari villamme Kundalini S'akti O knowledge of knowledge, Essence, S'ivaa Giver of shelter, O Mother, Kundalini Shakti, I have not even the knowledge to know. -- Max Dashu Suppressed Histories Archives http://www.suppressedhistories.net New: Women's Power DVD http://www.suppressedhistories.net/womenspowerdvd.html
Guest guest
Dear Max ~ Oh, I adore Navaratri ... perhaps it is the one Hindu holiday I know anything about, and it is dedicated to Divine Mother Durga/Kali/Saraswati/Laksmi. I love the " Chandi Path,' which is the " Glory of the Goddess " or " The Goddess Mahatyam " (not sure on that one) and how it is a celebration of the Goddess/es, who, on behalf of the Gods request, slayed the Asuras (the army of Negative Thoughts of the Great Ego). The more Adi Parashakti is mentioned, the more I can almost " hear " it in the back of my mind. Actually, I could hear it so clearly that I went in my room and went through all my old cassette tapes, but I didn't find it. Ahhh...I see ahead that perhaps someone has given the words. I can always make my own melody. Jai Jai Ma ~ Linda Oh, P.S., the footage from this bootleg video wouldn't be on " Vintage Scenes, " would it?
