Guest guest
Namaste Pranada, Since the situation in the world is very very grave, I feel that both should be included. But, I am not insisting. The more general prayer: " That every nation may work towards peace and non-violence. " Is already partially include in the beautiful? " Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu! " But, I also feel that the more specific, more intentional request for : " U.S. Department of Peace and Domestic Non-Violence. " Is very very important for the following reasons : Amma, and Tolle, both said that it is possible the human race may become extinct. I may be wrong, but I don't feel Amma would say so if this possibility is 1000 years from now. I feel there is an urgency and that is why Amma has Incarnated at this time as Kali. Amma also has said that there are wealthy nations which instigate wars [and no doubt terrorism] just to sell weapons and make a profit. Perhaps, there are wealthy unscrupulous people of several nations that work together to keep the world in turmoil just so that they could be in control and accumulate more wealth. This boggles the mind, but like Dr Phil says, " You cannot change what you do not acknowledge. " In this type of situation it is time for all people of good will to stand up and speak out against war, against torture, against all violence and seek alternative approaches. Buddha, Christ, Gandhi, ML King, Peace Pilgrim, Amma and many others have shown the way. America is the strongest nation in the world militarily and the wealthiest. America adapting a " U.S. Department of Peace and Domestic Non-violence " would signal a great hope for the world and other nations would hopefully follow suit. This initial idea came from Peace Pilgrim some time ago and is now proposed by a few " spiritually sighted " people. And now seems to be a window of opportunity to work for this and make it come about in a few years and possibly save the human race from extinction. I see no reason why one would not want to pray for this very specifically. But, I am no insisting. Just voicing my personal POV. On a more personal level, my wife and I recently were robbed by a young man with a gun. Obviously, that we were robbed was our karma, but that we suffered little harm was Amma's Grace. I feel the robber suffered/suffers a lot more as was evident by the fear on this young man's face. Few days later we had to go to police station to look at pictures; there were so many young men in trouble. And all we could do was say some prayers for all of them. I feel a " U.S. Department of Peace and Domestic Non-violence " would go a long way to help these young men. In the world, America is the strongest militarily, wealthiest, and has the largest % of its citizens in prisons. May Amma Bless All Americans toward more positive concrete actions on the individual level and on the government level, amarnath Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu ! Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, I personally feel quite uncomfortable with praying for specific agendas in specific governments, and I would not wish to ask others to pray for that which makes them uncomfortable. However, I will put this out to the group to decide, and defer to their decision. Guest guest
I repeat, I am not insisting. and if you feel uncomfortable, then please do not put it on the prayer list. Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, Perhaps it is only my imagination, but I'm sensing some frustration or disappointment. I do not wish to prescribe anyone's prayer sadhana, only to express my own personal feelings on the matter. I am sure we all have our own understanding of prayer, of what it is to request divine grace. My own feelings lead me to keep prayer requests relatively neutral; this is done in a spirit of trying to give space to everyone's different perspectives. Certainly I would not want to dissuade anyone from praying with a whole heart for that in which they deeply believe and that which gives them hope. Amma tells a story, and I believe it is also a Zen koan, of a mahatma who is asked to come and pray for someone's wife. The mahatma begins praying, " Lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu. " The person who requested the prayer becomes quite angry and says, " Hey, you aren't even mentioning my wife. " The Mahatma responds with something like, " This is the only way I know to pray for your wife. My understanding of the universe is that we are all one. Therefore I cannot pray for one without praying for all. " I have also heard of a study done in a hospital where volunteers were assigned patients to pray for. In some cases, they were given specifics of the patients' conditions and what was desired; in others, only the names. It turned out that those patients who were prayed for only by name, with no specifics, actually did better than the patients prayed for with specific details. Perhaps it is a question of fully allowing for divine possibilities we may not presently understand. I have felt that a recent post of mine was taken as divisive, dualistic, repressive, and silencing, and this has made me quite sad. I do not wish to make anyone feel silenced. I was silenced as a child, and the thought that I may have silenced others is quite upsetting for me. And division is entirely the opposite of what I was trying to accomplish. I apologize deeply to those who've felt silenced in any way by anything I've said. Again, I am offering this to the group to decide together. I was clearly in the minority with my attitude about what is being discussed on the list, and I am open to the possibility that I am in the minority here as well. It may be that I am simply not the prayer list coordinator this group is coming to need, and I will gladly pass on the privilege of this seva to someone else if my personal viewpoints are not shared and are causing people to feel stifled in their prayer requests. Guest guest
thankyou beloved.prayer is great.any excuse to open the heart is good, but let our prayers be selfless and they we will be answered for sure.the reason " may all beings in this world be peaceful and happy is so powerful " is because it considerss the well being of all and is a selfless prayer, yet it includes even the person praying. anything that has its motive in good is a good thing, therefore i believe it is good to pray for this suggested cause from our beloved brother.i also know that when we pray for more courage,GOD will make us confront our fears.this is how this prayer gets answered in my experience. it is not about " POOF " ,if we pray the problem disapears!it is about praying so our hearts open up and then we move into action.a lifestyle of prayer is real prayer.all the masters have said this.AMMA says a compassionate person does not need to worship a God.SHE also says that to truly worship HER feet is to LOVE AND SERVE the poor. i pray that our prayers are accompanied by a deeper commitment to serve.a deeper commitment to love. a deeper commitment to give and to sacrifice.for me,that is true prayer. everyone says that they are so busy.that seems to be the western mantra.if we all just did a little bit.a lot would get done!i am talking from experience with AMMA.seeing how in HER HUGGING ONE AT A TIME.MILLIONS HAVE RECIEVED HER HUG. the solution is not in the government changing policy's.it is in us changing the policy's of our selfish minds.people say that it is not humble to talk about what service we do,but that is bullcrap.we have to let people know,in order that they believe that a life style of service and sacrifice is possible.in this yuga we have to shine light on as much good as possible to combat all the other distractions. LIVE A LIFE STYLE OF PRAYER!pray and move into some type of action and surrender that action to AMMA. there are 900 people on this and maybe more.why dont we we start a service project!all it takes is one or two of us to do it and others will catch on. this is just an example.if all of us gave 10 dollars that would be 9,000 dollars towards the cause of our choice.but then people would ask questions like. has this been approved through the orginization? has this been okayed? why noy do it and come to AMMA and tell HER we did it to please HER? i know some of you must have non-profits.i have never recieved the org.approval when AMMA has given me an idea.i just move on it.AMMA says to never hesitate to do good!in time the orginization always comes around. so how about it beloved AMMA .lets all PRAY BY UNITING IN A SERVICE PROJECT!AMMA,AMMA,AMMA,AMMA,AMMA,AMMA,,AMMA,AMMA,AMMA................ LETS PLEASE OUR BELOVED AMMA. Ammachi: anatol_zinc: Wed, 19 Nov 2008 20:46:55 +0000 Re : why we should pray for “U.S. Department of Peace and Domestic Non-Violence” Namaste Pranada,Since the situation in the world is very very grave,I feel that both should be included. " Is very very important for the following reasons :Amma, and Tolle, both said that it is possible the human race may becomeextinct. I may be wrong, but I don't feel Amma would say so if thispossibility is 1000 years from now. I feel there is an urgency and thatis why Amma has Incarnated at this time as Kali. Amma also has said thatthere are wealthy nations which instigate wars [and no doubt terrorism]just to sell weapons and make a profit. Perhaps, there are wealthyunscrupulous people of several nations that work together to keep theworld in turmoil just so that they could be in control and accumulatemore wealth. This boggles the mind, but like Dr Phil says, " Youcannot change what you do not acknowledge. " In this type of situation it is time for all people of good will tostand up and speak out against war, against torture, against allviolence and seek alternative approaches. Buddha, Christ, Gandhi, MLKing, Peace Pilgrim, Amma and many others have shown the way.America is the strongest nation in the world militarily and thewealthiest. America adapting a " U.S. Department of Peace andDomestic Non-violence " would signal a great hope for the world andother nations would hopefully follow suit. This initial idea came fromPeace Pilgrim some time ago and is now proposed by a few " spiritually sighted " people. And now seems to be a window ofopportunity to work for this and make it come about in a few years andpossibly save the human race from extinction.I see no reason why one would not want to pray for this veryspecifically. But, I am no insisting. Just voicing my personal POV.On a more personal level, my wife and I recently were robbed by a youngman with a gun. Obviously, that we were robbed was our karma, but thatwe suffered little harm was Amma's Grace. I feel the robbersuffered/suffers a lot more as was evident by the fear on this youngman's face. Few days later we had to go to police station to look atpictures; there were so many young men in trouble. And all we could dowas say some prayers for all of them. I feel a " U.S. Department ofPeace and Domestic Non-violence " would go a long way to help theseyoung men.In the world, America is the strongest militarily, wealthiest, and hasthe largest % of its citizens in prisons.May Amma Bless All Americans toward more positive concrete actions onthe individual level and on the government level, amarnathLokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu !Ammachi , " Pranada Sylvis " <daughterpranadawrote:>> Namah Shivaya, Amarnath,>> Might we phrase it as:> " That every nation may work towards peace and non-violence " ?>> Jai Ma,> Pranada>> On Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 8:14 PM, amarnath anatol_zinc wrote:>> >> >> > Perhaps, this should be added to the prayer list:> > " U.S. Department of Peace and Domestic Non-Violence " > >> > thanks for listening> >> > Amma Bless,> > amarnath> > >>>>
