Guest guest
Dear Oprah, First, let me say that I'm very very happy that Barack will be our President shortly. And of course, you know that he will need a lot of help from many of us. Watching the election process, I wonder if you noticed what seems to me to be a big problem with politics? The use of archaic labels which do not necessarily have anything to do with the present state of affairs or even with simple common sense, but, which do incite fear, anger, arrogance, hatred, etc. From Tolle's teachings, it should be obvious, that a major shift in politics would be to start transcending all these fixed archaic political labels. One simple example: Instead of big vs small government as an ideology, why not go for effective government and let practicality and flexibility determine the appropriate size for the times. This can be applied to all the other " vs " ideologies( capitalism vs socialism, pro-life vs pro-choice, Republicans vs Democrats, war vs peace, wall street vs main street, etc, etc ). Instead of getting stuck in the politics of abortion, why not find practical solutions to minimize unwanted pregnancies? So, my point is that America needs to open up to new ways of thinking and understanding based not on archaic beliefs and fixed ideologies rooted in fear, but on common sense practicality inspiring hope. Instead of energizing FEAR & GREED( which leads to WAR and prosperity for a few ) why not energize HOPE and SHARING which can lead to PEACE and prosperity for all. We need all the educators( the news media, the entertainment media, the politicians themselves, authors of books, teachers, everyone of good will and courage ) to get on board and expose all the falsities of the old ways of ideological partisan thinking. And you Oprah are the foremost of popular educators. I hope you find ways to get this message out via your TV shows, internet classes, radio, book reviews, etc and inspire many others to do the same. Thanks for Listening and God Bless, Amarnath
