Guest guest
Dear Amarnath ~ I'm with you there. Head for the hills! Being raised first as a Christian, then as Catholic (which is quite a bit different from other forms of Christianity), then converting to Judaism (after I got married, though now I realize that, according to their own faith, the conversion was not a valid one), then to loving the Goddess in all Her ancient forms, then to Amma. (And meanwhile, somewhere along the way my mother went from being Catholic to being a " born again " Christian ... how do you become what you already are? ....only the form has changed.) I decided a long time ago it doesn't help to reason with certain people; they quite easily hold and act on contradictory material. It used to make me CRAZY. Now I just smile and extricate myself politely from the conversation. I have learned that I can only be responsible for and to my beliefs, my values, my deity (or deities since I would include Durga, Kali, Saraswati, Shiva, Krishna, etc.). ---- Amarnath wrote (so much more, but this is what struck me): ....BTW, I am aware of some of the very profound teachings in the Old Testament. But these are mixed in with a lot of other stuff. Best follow Amma's advice " extract the essence and leave the rest. " I like to say " extract the essence and run.
