Guest guest
Dear marci and all ~ I believe you are correct, marci that Amma says what is appropriate for the individual, and yet, She still provides us with ways to not only access that quiet space within but the active space without. In Transcendental Meditation this was called " activity/rest/activity/rest " ...to be active you first had to go within, but I believe that this was communicated as a more immediate process ... going in through mantra, then coming out to act in the world. For so many years, activism was my life and my livelihood. It also took a great toll on my body. Now that I am unable to active in any significant, or hardly insignificant, way, I find myself naturally turning inward. I have spent much of my time today listening to the wonderful Asatoma prayer on YouTube. I remember this from every time I have ever seen Ammachi. This prayer was, I believe, part of the aarti. I have always loved it. It may be translated in various ways, but all essentially the same: lead me to the Real; lead me to the Whole. I have been reading Savriti Bess' book, " Path of the Mother, " and she talks about different stages of coming to know the Divine Mother and of being on the path. One thing she says that very much resonates with my own experience is that these stages may or may not follow in the same order for each individual. And having passed through one " gate, " one might find that one has returned again to that part of the path. It is an ever evolving process. Beyond that my heart turns back to Asato Ma. He spoke of how when Amma answers questions. . . She is able to discern exactly the question and the questioner. . .He said it is not unusual for Amma to give different responses to the same question from different individuals based on Her ability to discern what is in the mind, heart, and path of the one asking the question... **************AOL Search: Your one stop for directions, recipes and all other Holiday needs.
