Dearest brother Temba,

My heart too has been very heavy for a long time because of how our

ancestors chose to use and abuse the indigenous peoples and the very land. I am

part

Cherokee, and of course, White. Yet, I may also have some black blood because

my great great and great grandparents owned slaves. I remember how shocked I

was when I learned of this. I also remember being taken out the back porch

to look across the field to the stand of trees in the distance. This was, I

was told, a " slave ditch, " where the black people fleeing slavery would hide in

their journey on the underground railroad.

I was horrified, yet I could not tell anyone my feelings. I was happy they

had a place to hide on their escape route. I remember going to church there, in

Tidewater Virginia, and it was before the Civil Rights Era, so the black

people had to sit in the balcony, as far away from the whites as possible. This

hurt my young heart.

Dear brother, you have done so much for so many; you yourself have likely

been the target or subject of racism, and it isn't just racism. A lot of what

" looks like " racism is really or is also classism. The upper and middle classes

not accepting those who were and are lower on the economic rung. I should

beg your forgiveness for what my family did. But Temba, please, please do not

take this pain on. You can in gather so many people to help in whatever ways

may be possible, and you do so much. Please keep your strength in Amma. If you

make yourself part of the cause, it may be harder to be part of the solution

because your grief, perhaps, might get in your way. I say this as someone

who has strongly felt this grief.

When my mother took me to a new high school to look it over, the Principal

apologized to her because there were so many blacks. I was shocked. Why would

he do such a thing. But in the area where I lived, there were only whites in

the schools. When I was very little I found someone to play with in my

(paternal) grandparent's neighborhood. We had such a good time; I was so happy

that

I came home and told my grandmother and my aunt about it. Then I was really

in trouble, getting yelled at, and even the next day, my aunt saying what

would be the all to familiar punch line, " Well, if you love them so much, why

don't you marry one? " !!!!!!!!

I was just a child. I didn't understand. I don't know how I escaped having

the racist attitudes of my family passed down to me; I never identified at all

with what they said and did, but only continued to feel shocked, horrified,

and then as I grew older, very sad for them ... to be trapped in these vicious

untruths. And these were people, please understand, who were Christian and

who were very serious about their religion.

To me it just never made sense.

During my working years, in my own way I did what I could. In one peace

group I worked for, I helped create a multicultural info/action " kit " for

teachers to use with school children. Later as I began to get more into my

Native

American roots, I created something called the " Earth Blessing Ceremony. " This

was very much experiential, not just me getting up in front of a group and

singing, but instead getting the group in a circle and having them directly

participate in all aspects, from saging the group to singing the chants. I was

very blessed to be able to do this in a variety of settings with a variety of

age groups, from small children to adults. I have been saddened by the loss of

my voice because I miss this. Yet, even in my art, there is that influence.

My latest work has been 4 " Medicine Sheilds, " each with a different animal.

These are my Animal Totems, but I feel others could identify with them. I

still have two to complete.

You are doing good, important work/seva, dear Temba. Please don't fall on

your sword. We all need you.

Jai Jai Ma ~ Linda

P.S. If there is a central group or agency that I could donate to I might be

able to make a small contribution periodically that way. To physically help

is beyond my means, and the other thing I can also do is pray. But please

understand Temba that your work is valued; you stand for many of us. Let them

know their sister Linda cares. The link made me very sad, but I saw a lot of

this with my own eyes when I lived in New Mexico. On the one hand the

commercialization of Native American culture by white people for white

consumers, and,

on the other hand, the devastating poverty.

dear beloved sister and darling daughter of AMMA.you are very precious and

dear to this heart and have a home in this heart forever, for indeed that is

where our beloved AMMA LIVES!SHE LIVES beloved sister!as long as this body has

breath in it,it will seek to please HER through serving HER forgotten

children,which i am one.

a couple of weeks ago ,it was friday and this child was engulfed in service

and so out of touch with time , that he thought that it was tuesday. its like i

am going crazy in a good way.i can not stop serving!this is proof to temba, that

it is not him that is doing anything!SHE fills my heart and compells it to serve

in the way that it does.temba does not have any strength on his own.this is

reality!SHE does what SHE does through all of HER children for HER own

reasons.SHE alone loves us all so much. i am nothing.temba has no control,he is

compelled.AMMA has given this child a gift through allowing him to serve.it is

through HER love that this happens.HER love will never cease in this LIFE or any

of our lives.for temba to stop serving, would mean that HER love has ceased in

his life and that could never happen beloved sister.HER WILL IS PERFECT AND ALSO

UNSTOPPABLE!it is by way of HER WILL that we do what we do,not ours.

dear beloved linda,AMMAs sun is not afraid to feel anyones pain.how can a

mother be told, not to feal the pain ,or take on the pain of HER children?what

mother would not accept the torments of hell if she could free her child from

it?fortunately this is not what AMMA has asked this child to do.SHE knows that

he could not handle that as of yet.SHE gives us all what we can endure.

what SHE ask of this child is to simply share what SHE gives him with

everyone that he can, exspecially those that our currently suffering.that in this

day and time, just happens to be the majority of the planet.many of you are in

tremendous pain right now. this heart willingly shares that with all of you and

i offer it to the LOTUS FEET of our beloved AMMA in tears of compassion.sorrow

is indeed the greatest GURU!when we cry tears of compassion for one,we cry for

ALL.a little love is all we have, but my heart believes to AMMA that it is

everything.

i beleive that if we all share this pain with one another , it will reduce it

for everyone .on the other side of pain is COMPASSION.when we are willing to

share anothers burdens,it is called COMPASSION.this is what Christ meant when he

said,to pick up your cross and follow me!

here is something AMMA taught this heart.when we are in pain,if we immediately

think of the pain of others and pray that they experience HER LOVE AND BLISS in

its fullness,we ourselves will experience HER bliss.

BE A SPIRITUAL SPONGE!ABSORB THE PAIN OF THE WORLD AND THEN LET HER SQUEEZE

THE SPONGE OF YOUR HEART OUT!WHEN SHE SQUEEZES THE SPONGE OF YOUR HEART OUT,u

WILL EXPERIENCE BLISS.AMMA says that the tears of the devotee are the light of

the world.SHE also says that when a devotee crys devotional tears of compassion

,it is the same as when a yogi is in SAHMADI.

sorrow and pain and the praying from your heart that ALL BEINGS be released

from their suffering is the sure road to this experience.this happens by way of

HER GRACE alone, but dont seek this experience, just long for HER love to be

shared with all.

once this happens to you, beloved sister,SHE gives you a vision, which we may

call a glimpse into HER WILL.it was after crying tears to HER in a prison cell

that AMMA showed me HER vision to build homes for HER forgotten children in

n.america.now dear sister,three years later,this is happening!

so dear linda ,if temba wanted to stop what his body does for HER,he could

not!no one can OUT WILL GODS WILL for your life.it is a BIG ego trip to think

that anything could stop AMMAs will!how could this little ego of mine,or my

issues stop HER WILL for this LIFE beloved sister!

this child has come to discover that anything he asked someone else to do ,he

should be willing to do himself.the reason AMMA told this heart to initiate the

apology to the Indiginous people of this land and the african americans of this

land ,as well as the white americans of this land is to begin the process of

healing for humanity on a deeper level.some may say , " who is he to think he can

do this? "

my response would be simply that i am someone who longs for the liberation

of every heart.someone who knows that until we face life fearlessly,we as a

whole humanity, will not live inside of each others hearts in the way that all

of our hearts truly long to.

dear linda,a lot of people have stuffed these things way down and until

someone brings it up,it never gets dealt with.this is what has happened dear

sister.we have all stuffed these things way down and have come to a place of

being comfortable with living in denial.

this is way it takes courage to bring it up and COMPASSIONATELY FACE IT.to

look it in the face with the infinite courage of love and to see it as an

oppurtunity to grow, heal and evolve into humanity's next stage of spiritual

evolution.dear beloved linda, this child accepst his dharma, what he said was from

the heart,AMMA with his heart love all.

dear beloved family and darling children of AMMA.in the book of luke in the

bible ,it says that the ANGELS in heaven CELEBARATE when one heart turns from

his ,or her unhealthy behaviors and seeks the LORD.

it is not for us to begin " morbidly reflecting " on how bad we are.this is

not our path.ours is the path of acceptance and facing life with the strength

that AMMA has given us all if we would just have faith in HER POWER!

we can CELEBRATE any oppurtunity that AMMA gives us all to grow

spiritually!

Dearest brother Temba,My heart too has been very heavy for a longtime because of

how our ancestors chose to use and abuse theindigenous peoples and the very

land. I am part Cherokee, and ofcourse, White. Yet, I may also have some black

blood because my greatgreat and great grandparents owned slaves. I remember how

shocked Iwas when I learned of this. I also remember being taken out the

backporch to look across the field to the stand of trees in the distance. This

was, I was told, a " slave ditch, " where the black people fleeingslavery would

hide in their journey on the underground railroad. I washorrified, yet I could

not tell anyone my feelings. I was happy theyhad a place to hide on their escape

route. I remember going to churchthere, in Tidewater Virginia, and it was before

the Civil Rights Era,so the black people had to sit in the balcony, as far away

from thewhites as possible. This hurt my young heart.Dear brother, you havedone

so much for so many; you yourself have likely been the target orsubject of

racism, and it isn't just racism. A lot of what " lookslike " racism is really or

is also classism. The upper and middleclasses not accepting those who were and

are lower on the economicrung. I should beg your forgiveness for what my family

did. But Temba, please, please do not take this pain on. You can in gather so

manypeople to help in whatever ways may be possible, and you do so much. Please

keep your strength in Amma. If you make yourself part of thecause, it may be

harder to be part of the solution because your grief, perhaps, might get in your

way. I say this as someone who has stronglyfelt this grief. When my mother took

me to a new high school to lookit over, the Principal apologized to her because

there were so manyblacks. I was shocked. Why would he do such a thing. But in

the areawhere I lived, there were only whites in the schools. When I was

verylittle I found someone to play with in my (paternal)

grandparent'sneighborhood. We had such a good time; I was so happy that I came

homeand told my grandmother and my aunt about it. Then I was really introuble,

getting yelled at, and even the next day, my aunt saying whatwould be the all to

familiar punch line, " Well, if you love them somuch, why don't you marry one? "

!!!!!!!! I was just a child. I didn'tunderstand. I don't know how I escaped

having the racist attitudes ofmy family passed down to me; I never identified at

all with what theysaid and did, but only continued to feel shocked, horrified,

and thenas I grew older, very sad for them ... to be trapped in these

viciousuntruths. And these were people, please understand, who were Christianand

who were very serious about their religion. To me it just nevermade sense.During

my working years, in my own way I did what I could. In one peace group I worked

for, I helped create a multiculturalinfo/action " kit " for teachers to use with

school children. Later as Ibegan to get more into my Native American roots, I

created somethingcalled the " Earth Blessing Ceremony. " This was very much

experiential, not just me getting up in front of a group and singing, but

insteadgetting the group in a circle and having them directly participate inall

aspects, from saging the group to singing the chants. I was veryblessed to be

able to do this in a variety of settings with a varietyof age groups, from small

children to adults. I have been saddened bythe loss of my voice because I miss

this. Yet, even in my art, thereis that influence. My latest work has been 4

" Medicine Sheilds, " eachwith a different animal. These are my Animal Totems, but

I feel otherscould identify with them. I still have two to complete. You are

doinggood, important work/seva, dear Temba. Please don't fall on yoursword. We

all need you. Jai Jai Ma ~ LindaP.S. If there is a centralgroup or agency that I

could donate to I might be able to make a smallcontribution periodically that

way. To physically help is beyond mymeans, and the other thing I can also do is

pray. But pleaseunderstand Temba that your work is valued; you stand for many of

us.Let them know their sister Linda cares. The link made me very sad, butI saw a

lot of this with my own eyes when I lived in New Mexico. Onthe one hand the

commercialization of Native American culture by whitepeople for white consumers,

and, on the other hand, the devastatingpoverty. Temba wrote:dear beloved family
