Guest guest
Dear marci ~ I loved hearing about your love of trees. I have had a similar love that is life long. The most recent artwork that I did was to take different kinds of tree bark (naturally shed or taken from limbs that had fallen off ... never took bark off of any trees) and combine them with painted imagery, photos, tiny painted babies, oh ... many things. You could not really call them collages. I call them mixed media because they are nearly three dimensional. At some point, as the bark and the painting and whatever I am adding comes together, I place it all on a natural or painted piece of pine. That is so it can hang vertically, just like any drawing or painting or photo. And speaking of photos, the photo of the ta pohn tree was magnificent. How I would love to see one close up. Every aspect of nature is full of beauty ~ the sinuous lines, the magnificent shapes, the gorgeous ... sometimes brilliant, sometimes barely a whisper ... color ... everything. I always keep a simple milkweed branch with several empty pods where I can see it during the day. It speaks to me of birthing, of transforming, of changing or dissolving, only to be born again. And the soft white milky stuffing, when it breaks apart and each little wing dancing seed goes drifting off ... brings tears to my eyes... (ta prom temple....it was deserted for 500 years and became completely overgrown by the jungle....much of the growth has been cleared away, but some magnificent trees remain. it was actually nature that preserved the temple from destruction for all of those years it was abandoned. in the research i discovered that in 1186 AD king #7 (kings are referred to in numbers!) consecrated several statues here, one of which was that of Prajnaparamita - the personification of the perfection of wisdom....the Mother of all buddhas) _http://www.asiaphotos.net/photo.php?id=361_ (http://www.asiaphotos.net/photo.php?id=361) Linda hope this link works. . ..
