Guest guest
Namaste Came across these seven word quotes, and after reading them wondered what Amma would say, if She could only use seven words to reveal awakening. . .?. . .. . " I am, but there is no one. " Wei Wu Wei " You are the perceiving, not the perceiver. " Ch'an " You are looking for what is looking. " St. Francis of Assisi " That which is seeking is the sought. " Buddhist scriptures " There is only one Atman. It is all-pervading. When we become broadminded, we can merge with It. Then selfishness and ego will not be there. Everything will be equal. Children, without wasting a single moment, serve others and help the destitute. Without expecting anything from others, serve them. " -- Amma Perhaps it would contain all the elements of the above Amma saying, but in only seven words?. . .i do not know the answer to this question. . . Another quote by Wei Wu Wei; " Free, we are not the one, the first of all our objects.---but Zero---their universal and Absolute subject. " Aum Amriteswaryai Namaha marci **************New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination. Dining, Movies, Events, News & more. Guest guest
I think someone actually posted how Amma would reveal it, but it came to nine words. In response to a boy who asked how could karma operate in his very first life, Amma replied: " This is all a dream. You were never born. " As a follow up to your post on Jnaneshwar, one of his most profound advaitic work called Amritanubhava (Amrita = Immortality, Anubhava = Experience) has actually been wonderfully translated from the original Marathi to English by Ramesh Balsker, available from the following website: https://advaita.3dcartstores.com/EXPERIENCE-OF-IMMORTALITY-by-Ramesh-S-Balsekar_\ p_11-35.html As for your question on the meaning of Chintamani (Chinta = wish, Mani = gem) so Chintamani is used in Indian scriptures to refer to a wish-fulfilling gem. Guest guest
maybe Amma would say: " To become a hero, first become zero! " (7 words) Ammachi , Mmrivertalk wrote: > > > Namaste > Came across these seven word quotes, and after reading them wondered what > Amma would say, if She could only use seven words to reveal awakening. . .?. . > . . > " I am, but there is no one. Guest guest
Namaste Yes. . .Amarnath. . .that one fits quite well. . .like that one. . ..thanks. . . Labd sent a link so i followed it and from that page came up with a few more short one liners. . . thanks Labd. . . " In true witnessing there is no witnessor " . . . . " All there IS. . .Is Consciousness. " . . .. " Never mind. . .a journey of Non-duality. " . . .. but i thought these two might fit Amma. . . . by Ramesh Balsekar " What I Teach, The Way I Live " . . . but my favorite was this one for Amma. . . " Who cares? " . . . . ( like the two levels on this one. . .the way we so often use it from the ego. . .but when said from Amma's heart. . . the ego cannot answer the question. . .because only the divine Self can produce caring. . . so maybe Amma would say something like this also: " who cares, not two. Here are 2 statements (both less than 7 words). 1. " Nothing Really Happened. " (this is the title of a book written by David Godman on Papaji). 2. " Ultimately, nothing matters. " (read this in a self-help book during my teens!) Here is a 7-worder. 3. " Everything is Consciousness ... and you are That! " The armchair non-philosopher in me got a chance for expression! I like the 9-word, 2-sentence description offered by Amma to the kid. worth repeating here. " This is all a dream. You were never born. " Jai Ma!
