Guest guest
" I look only at the hearts of my children. I am unconcerned about the social status or wealth of those who come to me. A mother never discriminates between her children in that way. Whenever a grief-stricken person comes to me, I feel compassion towards them. I feel their sorrow and suffering as my own. I always do my best to alleviate their suffering. " --Amma The Mahatmas have come to the world out of their overflowing compassion, only with the intention of helping us. There is a story about why these incarnations are coming to this world. There was a group of people, long ago, walking to another city. They were going through a dense forest. Unfortunately, the journey took longer than expected, and they soon ran out of food. For two or three days they kept on walking without any food. Finally, they came to a high compound wall. They all thought there must be something inside, so one of them was sent over the wall to see what it was. The others helped him up, and when he looked over he said, " My God! " and jumped to the other side. The other poor people were left waiting thinking he'd come back, but he didn't. They sent a second person. He also said, " My God! " jumped over the wall and never came back. So the people told the third person, " Don't do what the other two did. Please come back and tell us what is there. " Then they helped him up. When he looked over he smiled and told them, " Just wait, I'll be back. " He jumped over to the other side, but also never came back. What they had found inside were beautiful fruit trees, and many dishes of wonderful food to eat. They were so hungry they just jumped over and stuffed themselves until the couldn't move. So how could the climb back over the wall? The fourth person to climb the wall decided he would definitely come back. He jumped over, ate some food, and came back to tell the others about the food and to help them over the wall. They say the bliss of God-intoxication is so great, you never want to come back. Like the first people who saw all the food and just stuffed themselves, and then didn't want to come back. The bliss of God-realization is like that, so nobody wants to come back to help us. A person like Amma makes a sankalpa (resolve), " I will not immerse myself in That. I will come back. Amma says, " I am ready to be reborn any number of times for the sake of my children.
