dear Linda. . .thought i would post a bit of what Swamiji said about

Mata Rani. . .

 

" The song Mata Rani has become so popular among Amma's devotees. . .all

over the world . . .and even today it remains so fresh in our hearts. .

..even now when Amma sings Mata Rani the entire hall will dance. . .

 

The meaning of the songs. . .the language is Punjabi. . .this in fact is

a very special bhajan. . .it is special because it's meaning is entirely

different than most bhajans. . .most bhajans are full of longing. .

..with words like; " O Mother when will you come. . .this child is longing

.. . .without your grace. . .i am not. . .everything is sorrow. . .i am

waiting for you. . .i am such a mess. . .i will continue to be a mess " .

.. . .

 

Most prayers no matter the language. . .this is what we say. . . and

that is okay. . .actually good. . .that is what Amma says. . .We should

express our sorrow to Amma. . .or to the God we pray to. . .that is the

prevading prayers for most of us. . .

 

But Mata Rani is entirely different. . .it talks about fullness. . .i

have gained everything. . .the song reminds me of Mirabai's story. .

..the great devotee of Lord Sri Krishna. . .

 

Mirabai was denounced by the King for her devotion to Lord Krishna. .

..the King thought that she disgraced the entire family by her devoiton.

.. .So he sent poison milk. . .Mirabai knew about the poison. . .but

happily accepted it anyway. . .the King tried to kill her. . .but

nothing happened. . .Why?. . . Because when you are love personified you

are not the body anymore. . .no one can kill you . . .because you have

become immortal. . .you become pure love. . .

 

So after Mira consummed the poison. . .she danced in bliss. . . singing

the glories of Krishna. . . pouring out her heart to her beloved Lord.

.. . for Mira everything was a blessing. . .even the poison milk. .

..every moment of her life was a celebration because of her love for

Krishna. . .

 

The King was taken back. . .they waited to see her dead body. . .but

instead. . .Mira got up from her bed and started dancing. . .singing. .

..and they simply could not understand. . .such is the case with the

Great Masters. . .

 

The meaning of the chorus. . Mata Rani has shead her grace upon me. .

..all my wishes have come true. . .Mata Rani heard my prayers and all my

wishes have come true. . .there is nothing to gain. . .all have wishes

have come true. . .

 

So in Mata Rani. . .the song is not a celebration longed for. . .a song

of celebration that has already come true. . .or more correctly it is a

celebration that one's nature is immortal bliss. . .it is a shift in

understanding. . .the bhajan says, All my wishes have come true. . .

 

And when Amma sings this song. . .and we all sing and dance with Her. .

..we become One with Amma. . .and in those moments we take a dip into our

true nature. . .at least temporily. . .we live up to name. . .children

of immortality. . .when we dance with Her. . .it is the rasa leela. .

..like when Krishna dances with the Gopi's. . .each Gopi felt like

Krishna was dancing with her alone. . .isn't that what we feel when we

dance with Amma?. . .

 

Mata Rani is a special bhajan. . .and we should live up to it's words. .

Also Linda. . . thanks for pointing me in the right direction

concerning movie series that show the stories of Hindu dieties. .

..checked some more last evening and found that Netflix does have many

series. . .Such as Ramayana. . .Shree Brahma Vishnu Mahesh. . .Shri

Krishna. . .Jai Hanuman. . .Jai Ganesha. . .that will keep me busy for

too long. . .mercy!. . .much appreciation. . .
