Dear Amma Family,

This is not a response to anything in particular, but rather, a general

post. When I was involved for a time with a satsang in the suburbs of a large

city, and also when I attended retreats, I experienced people using the

following phrase to basically excuse negative talk and/or behavior

(paraphrase): It

is just Amma, stirring the pot. Amma may be stirring a pot, but I believe it

is a pot of PRINCIPLES, and She is cooking up a healthy spiritual nourishment

for Her children.

It always felt to me that when someone said Amma was stirring the pot, it

was a too convenient excuse to not take responsibility for their own negative

behavior. We are the one's stirring the pot. I can imagine Amma rocking back in

Her seated repose and heartily laughing ... what silly humans. Perhaps one

of the first steps is to be able to discriminate which pot is being stirred,

and hence, which one we will choose to taste. I think Amma's pot would have a

compelling odor, with smells of sweetness, spiciness, an aura of wholeness.

On the other hand our pots are unbalanced to one degree or another ... maybe

too much salt (which abrades our existing wounds); maybe too much pepper

(which makes us sneeze, thus deflecting our attention), too much sweetness that

addicts us to the wrong pot. Okay, so much for pots! I feel that I've really

put myself " out there or out " here, " so I may get a negative pot response.

So be it. I will do my best to remain a WITNESS. Jai Ma ~ Linda
